The forum was attended by 51 people. Agenda item Discussion points and actions agreed Warwickshire Library and Information Service consultation –‘Facing the Challenge’. 1. Request made that the bus service and library reviews are joined up, to ensure the bus service operates at a time when the library is open.
2. Concerns raised about access to the other services now housed inside the
library building (Police front desk etc.). The assurance was given that even
if the proposed cut to hours takes place, access to the Police front desk will
still exceed the hours previously offered at the old station building.
Matters arising:
Castle Farm skate park
The lighting has now been installed, and the coin operation box is due to come
into use in the near future. Castle Farm half-pipe has been condemned – due
to be removed next week. Young people will be submitting a grant application
to the forum as part of their fundraising to replace it. They have already raised
£5,500. Cllr Blacklock mentioned the WDC Play Working Group, which is due
to meet, and to discuss the issue. (No forum action at this time.)
Police presentation and priority setting, and local update
1. Speed checks on Birches Lane / Glasshouse Lane
2. Continue with ASB patrols at Castle Farm and Abbey Fields
3. Targeted, high-visibility patrols on Dencer Drive and Dalehouse Lane
to deter burglars
Community forum
grant fund
Grit bin for Hyde Road. Forum agreed to award the grant as requested – 50%
of total cost: payment will be made to the Town Council upon approval for the
grit bin from the other involved parties. Exact amount as yet unknown, but
approx. £100.

Discussion took place about licensed premises. The legal position was
explained (where there is no history of issues related to a licence, statutory
agencies can’t object to the application). (No forum action at this time.)
Visibility and maintenance of road markings and signs was raised and
discussed. Relevant attendees were asked to raise the issue with Peter Hallam
at the next Kenilworth Streetpride meeting. (Forum attendees to action
through Streetpride.)
