Audacity 2.2.0 and beyond from Nov 2017

Audacity 2.2.1 on Win10
It’s easy, real easy to record decent audio - I use my Moto G4 phone, a few JVC HA EBR25 / EBR80 Sports headset plugged into the phone or my Win10 laptop. I also have a Zoom H1 pro Mic.

Sports Headset with Mic will plug into Phone and Laptop to Record

Yet all of this makes me so lazy as it’s simple to record my voice and be understood.

Does this mean software like Audacity is used even less, I think not.

In my opinion, it opens up a cavern of opportunity for everyone to record audio, edit it effectively an publish something that polished and listenable, whether as audio only or as a track on a produced video.

I would encourage anyone who has not edited audio before to give it a go. You can do pretty much anything like take out all the mistakes, delete stuff and change the order for a greater sense of purpose and understanding.

Audio editing like video editing allows you the magic of playing with time - to speed it up and slow it down and change the order. Just like that 90 minute football game edited into a few minutes of highlights.

On  November 2017, the team at Audacity released a whole new look where I made a thirteen help videos so far, see the playlist below. As I said in the video notes:

This a series of help videos for learning how to use Audacity and to have as much fun as possible. Video will assume little or no knowledge and are designed to make Audacity appeal to a whole new generation of users.

For me personally, I’m a novice audio editor, yet seem to have used Audacity for the last eight years, so I cannot be that bad. I tend to make help videos that are short, to the point and solve a problem or a user’s question.

My favourite for versions 2.2.0 and 2.2.1 is the new Color Themes and the Waveform Colorways. As audio is not that visual, it’s vital to look at Audacity in a form that you find attractive - get that right and it boosts confidence.

I have a second playlist too, 12 videos including the popular, How to Clean Audio using Audacity: Noise Removal, Normalise and Compressor (31 May 13).

I still have it on my list to look at the official Audacity Manual Help Pages and make a few videos following the many many topic areas.
