Google Meet How to Reset your Microphone Muted by your System Settings

If you've had this error 'your microphone has been muted by your system settings' click the microphone to learn more.

Once you click it you get this pop-up which looks like, 'this your microphone has been muted by your system settings - go to your computer's settings to unmute your microphone and adjust its level.'

I found this quite difficult to do this is the solution - you right-click on your sound icon in windows bar, open sound settings and then you get the bigger versions.

Then when you get to sound scroll down to the part which goes past input and microphone down to advanced sound options.

When you click that there is a reset button have a look in the list sometimes I get three or four Chrome entries. Here in this example, all I've got is Google Chrome.

Sometimes, I found I can fiddle around with the input level but hit reset then reload your Google Meet browser just  right-click and reload (or keyboard f5) and then you should find that this message has gone and the little red thing has gone that was it. All done.

Good luck with it, it was a tip from me to whoever finds it - and so far over 200,000 of you have watched. Thank You.

Another method, that is a pinned comment on the video (from user Notchim1)

If your microphone is muted:
  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Open Sound.
  3. Click the Recording tab.
  4. Double-click on the microphone you are using in the list of recording devices:
  5. Click the Levels tab.
  6. Click the microphone icon, shown muted below: The icon will change to show as unmuted:
  7. Click Apply, then OK. Long But More Affective.
